Abdullah Mahmood Bio

Abdullah Mahmood, a resilient senior pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, embodying the spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity. Born amidst the chaos of war in Iraq in 2001, Abdullah’s journey has been marked by four separate refugee experiences, each presenting its own set of challenges. Despite the turmoil, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of his engineering dreams.

In 2016, Abdullah made the courageous decision to move to the United States, leaving behind the turmoil of his homeland. His determination and resilience were evident as he navigated through various leadership roles on campus, including serving as the Internal Vice President of the Minority Engineering Educational Task and as the cofounder and managing director of the Colombian American Student Association. Additionally, he has held the esteemed position of Vice President of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. Abdullah’s journey reflects not only his personal resilience but also his commitment to community and service. From his beginnings in war-torn Iraq to his current pursuit of academic excellence in the U.S., Abdullah’s story serves as an inspiration to all who encounter it.
